In-Store Try-On: Anthropologie Plus Size Review and Haul

If you follow plus size fashion news, you’ve likely heard that Anthropologie has launched its first ever plus size collection called A+ By Anthropologie.  Everyone’s talking about it and I even wrote an initial post sharing my first impressions of the line.  You can read that post here.

One of the things I was super bummed about was that the plus line was initially available in only ten stores throughout the US, none of which were within 100 miles of where I live.  What I FORGOT when I was doing my research was that Kevin & I had a trip to Chicago planned for my birthday at the end of March and there was a store about 30 minutes north of the city that did carry the line.

I couldn’t resist the opportunity to go check out the pieces in person, so the Sunday morning before we headed home we made the trek to the Skokie, IL store!

I’ve only stepped foot inside an Anthropologie store once or twice in my lifetime but walking in knowing that I’d be able to actually shop for CLOTHING and not just home items or accessories was so exciting!

This post is in collaboration with Lane Bryant / Cacique.  All opinions are my own.  Be sure to join me at the Crestview Hills, KY store location on Saturday, April 6th from 2-4 PM where I’ll be hosting the Perfect Bra Fit Event!  There will be great discounts, free bra fittings, and giveaways!  I’ll also be there to hang out and help style you.  I can’t wait to see you and shop with you!

If you’ve been around here for long, you’ll know that I’m a huge Lane Bryant fan. I’ve been shopping there for years and a very large portion of my wardrobe is from there.  I’m so into a great in-store shopping experience, and no matter where I have lived over the years, I’ve always been able to rely on Lane Bryant to give me that.

I spend a LOT of time in my local store in Crestview Hills, KY, and I’m so excited to partner with Lane Bryant’s Cacique brand to host the Perfect Bra Fit event at this location.

In today’s post, we’ll talk about a few fun things…

  1. Everything you need to know about Cacique Intimates, Lane Bryant’s brand that offers bras, underwear, pajamas, and swimwear… including the new, inclusive size range!
  2. We’ll discuss the tips I’ve learned from the pros about how bras are ACTUALLY supposed to fit.
  3. I’ll show you the sneak peek of my new Lane Bryant outfit that I picked out especially for Saturday’s event.  When you see me wearing it… act surprised 😉
  4. Finally, you’ll get ALL the details about Saturday’s event and what you can expect.

What You Need to Know About Cacique Intimates at Lane Bryant

First, let’s talk about Cacique… it’s the intimates brand available in Lane Bryant stores and online at  I have personally been wearing Cacique bras for at least 15 years, and the brand offers consistently high quality, cute prints/colors, and great fit.

Inclusive Size Range

The size range from Cacique has recently expanded to an impressive range!  There are now 86 sizes available from band sizes 32-50 and cup sizes A-K!  They also offer select styles of panties and sleepwear in sizes 0-28.  I think it’s so cool that we plus size babes can shop Cacique in store with our smaller friends now!

A Variety Of Styles For Different Breast and Body Shapes

There are a variety of styles available to meet the varying needs of women of different shapes and sizes:

  • Full coverage
  • Balconette – Cacique’s most popular style!
  • Demi
  • T-Shirt
  • Wire Free – my new personal fave!
  • Plunge – my go-to for years!

My New Bra Obsession – The Simply Wire Free Uplift Plunge Bra

The Cacique Simply Wire Free Uplift Plunge Bra in Black Available in Sizes 32-50 A-K

A few weeks ago, I came across the new Simply Wire Free Uplift Plunge bra on social media, and I knew immediately that I needed to try it.  I bought one soon after and have since bought additional ones because I wear them daily.

I am not exaggerating when I say this new bra is now one of my prized possessions.  It’s as comfortable as a sports bra but has the support and lift of an underwire.  There is a gel channel instead of the wire so there’s never a pinch or a poke.  I’m obsessed!

I do have a smaller bust, so I’m not as concerned about support as many of my larger busted friends but I’ve spoken to several people with a larger cup size who are as impressed as I am.  I highly recommend giving a bra from the wireless collection a try… and Saturday’s bra fit event will be a perfect time to get a great deal.  More on that later!

Master Bra Fitters – Free Professional Bra Fitting In Store

Cacique trains its staff to become Master Bra Fitters.  You can always have a Master Fitter provide a free bra fit!    A master fitter is an expert in bra fit and to be certified they have to execute 100 or more bra fits!  They can not only help with sizing but can also help recommend the best frame for your breast shape… so cool!

How Bras Are Actually Supposed to Fit

I’ve learned some extremely helpful bra fit tips from the team at Cacique that I am excited to share with you and use in my own life.  Finding the perfect fit can be VERY confusing on your own but here are a few important tips as you evaluate your current bras and whether they fit properly.

  • The middle part of the bra (known as the “gore”) should sit flat on your sternum.
  • The band of your bra should fit straight across your back (no sagging down or riding up).
  • The straps of your bra should rest comfortably on your shoulders and not dig in.
  • Your breast should fit comfortably inside the bra cup, with no spillage.

Our breast shape can change much more frequently than you’d think.  It is recommended that we get professional bra fittings every SIX months to ensure proper fit.  I honestly haven’t had a fitting in years, so I’m excited to get one on Saturday and then stock up on new bras during the sale!

Event Outfit Details Featuring Beauticurve X Lane Bryant Collaboration

Miranda Schultz of The Plus Life Blog Wearing The Beauticurve Animal Print Maxi from the Beauticurve X Lane Bryant Spring 2019 Collection

I recently had a fun day shopping in the store to pick out an outfit for the event.  I’m pretty sure I tried on every dress available and found SO many great options.  Stay tuned for future posts because I’ve got a LOT of cute new pieces to share with you for spring.

For this event, I landed on this gorgeous Beauticurve Animal Print Maxi Dress from the Beauticurve X Lane Bryant collection.  I LOVE that Lane Bryant collaborates with bloggers and influencers and it’s so fun to see the personal styles of my faves in store. This collection definitely suits my own personal style… very wearable, classic, and feminine.

I am obsessed with the length of the animal maxi dress and it feels very high quality with great lining.  If you have a smaller bust/larger hips, you can likely size down at least one size, maybe two.  I typically wear a 28 in everything at Lane Bryant and bought this in a 24.  I still have plenty of room and could probably even go with a 22 for a more fitted bust.

I’ll be pairing the dress with these gorgeous gold Octagon Hoop Earrings and black Triple Strap Wedge Sandals for the event.

I’m IN LOVE with sandals.  It is so hard to find a strappy sandal that doesn’t dig into my feet, but these have a nice, hidden stretchy band that makes them very comfortable.  Also, while they’re called wedge sandals… the wedge is very minimal so they feel like wearing flats!  I know I will be wearing them all spring and summer.

How to Decorate Your Coffee Table on a Budget: $50 or Less Challenge by Miranda Schultz of The Plus Life Blog

How to Style A Coffee Table On A Budget: $50 Challenge

Hi, I’m Miranda and while you likely know me for my love of plus size fashion… I’m also obsessed with home decor.  Like, give me all the HGTV, Better Homes & Gardens, Southern Living, Martha Stewart, Pinterest etc. etc. etc. obsessed.  I can’t quit.

I’ve promised more home content on the blog for a while, and I’ve had SO much fun creating this post.  I also love a good excuse to actually work on my house.  We’ve lived here for a year and we haven’t completely made it our own yet.  Your home decor requests are motivating me to get to it!

Today’s post is all about a personal challenge I gave myself… to decorate my very boring, very plain coffee table beautifully but also on a budget.

I decided to allow myself to spend $50 on the project, and *SPOILER ALERT* I spent even less than that to achieve this look.  I’m really happy with the way it turned out and hope it inspires you to tackle an area of your home with a frugal update!

Monthly favorites in plus size fashion, beauty, home and lifestyle from The Plus Life Blog

Monthly Faves – February

HELLO MARCH!!!!!  I always get so excited when March rolls around because Spring is the best!  I am so excited for all things Spring fashion, Spring cleaning, and SPRING BREAK!  I’m so inspired right now and my mind is racing with all of the things I want to share with you – so many ideas, so little time! Haha.

I’ve been brainstorming the best ways to share all of the things I’m loving with you and how I can organize it in a way that is most beneficial.  I’ve spent a lot of time sharing things I’m loving on IG stories and LOVE the conversations we all have via DM when I do.  On the other hand, when content disappears after 24 hours and the good discussions are happening one on one, not everyone benefits.

I’ve decided to start sharing a monthly roundup of all my favorite goodies I’m loving on the blog.   I’ll share all things fashion and beauty as always, but also home decor, business stuff, entertainment and more.  Don’t worry – the IG stories and our awesome convos will continue, but I’m excited to organize my thoughts here and hopefully spark conversations publicly so everyone benefits!

I hope you enjoy it!  Let’s dive into my first ever monthly faves roundup!  Here’s everything I was loving the most in February!

My Favorite Extended Plus Size Pajamas

I follow a lot of thin “lifestyle influencers” on Instagram and YouTube, and I always notice they wear the most luxurious, beautiful pajama sets.  Unfortunately, I can’t wear the ones they recommend because they don’t come in plus sizes but I always LOVE the way they look.

For months, I searched high and low for classic pajama sets that are available in plus sizes.  I found several cute options but ultimately landed on an incredible set from that are available in sizes 14-40!

What You Need to Know About Auto Maintenance

Today’s post is one I’m extremely excited to share with you.  It’s the first ever guest post published here on The Plus Life. I’ve always envisioned using this platform to amplify voices besides just my own, and I’m excited to share the work of someone I immensely respect.  I can’t wait for you to learn about Chaya from Mechanic Shop Femme today.  Chaya is an automotive consultant who blogs about plus size fashion AND empowers women and the LGBTQ community to learn about all things auto.

Today, Chaya is going to share some maintenance knowledge but if you’re interested in learning even more, be sure to check out her website for blog posts, courses, and consulting services.

A Roundup: All The Best Casual Plus Size Valentine’s Day Looks

Last year was the first time I really got into holiday themed clothing, but now I can’t get enough.  On Valentine’s Day, Kevin and I tend to prefer a cozy night in and cooking a nice dinner instead of going out on the town.  We like avoiding the crowds and overpriced “special” menus.  This means that for Valentine’s Day, I’m normally on the lookout for cute, casual outfit options instead of the usual little red dress!

Plus size brands have launched a lot of super cute V-day inspired options this year, and I was feeling them so much I had to round them up for you.

Introducing: Plus Size Deals of the Day!

Hello, my friend!  I’m coming to you today with some VERY exciting news.  Well, it’s exciting for me at least… and I HOPE it’s exciting for you too!

If you’ve been around here for a while, you’ll likely know that I’m a huge sucker for a good deal!  Frugality is a big part of my own life. I hate wasting money and am not a big fan of paying full price for anything.  I’m constantly searching for sales and feel such a sense of accomplishment when I find great clothes at great prices.
