It’s been just over a month since I quit my corporate job. While I do miss the steady paycheck and the comfort that brings, I’m still SO excited about all of the things that are happening in my life now that I’ve made the space. The past month has been a blur to say the least, but I am still so happy I made the leap.
My primary focuses over the past month have been building my blog (oh, hi! THANK YOU for being here) and putting together our new home. I’ve also been so grateful for time spent with my family.
On the business front, I’ve made some incredible progress in the past month. My July blog stats were almost TRIPLE my June numbers and I’ve been so fortunate to connect with so many of you. I really don’t like to focus too much on how many followers I have or how many people are reading the blog, but I do love being able to connect to more awesome women and am so grateful for each of you.
As part of my commitment to invest in my blog’s growth, I attended Marie Denee’s TCF Style Expo over the past few days. It was an incredible experience, and I was able to connect with so many awesome bloggers, designers, readers and just all-around awesome people.
Before the expo, I ordered these Basic Invite Painted Chevron Business Cards in blue. I loved having beautiful cards to share with people I met. It’s easy to think that in the digital age, all we need to do is tell someone our Instagram info but business cards are as important today as ever for networking.
When you meet hundreds of people in a weekend, it’s impossible to remember every single conversation. If you have a stack of business cards, though, it’s so much easier to go back and find all the people you met once you get home.
If you don’t already have business cards, I highly recommend you get some! Don’t just think of them for your day job, if you have a business or a side hustle it’s SUPER important to treat it like a real business. Business cards are such an easy way to present yourself like a true professional.
About My Business Cards
I chose the basic matte finish cards and really love them. The quality is excellent. I decided to use the shades of blue that were default on the cards, but you can customize them with over 180 different colors and over 100 fonts.
On the back of the card, you can choose several different formats including the designer’s choice, additional information, a logo, a photo, business hours, appointment info, discount codes, etc. I went with the designer’s choice and love it!
I included my name, email and website info as those are the most important to my business. Depending on what you do and how you prefer connecting, you may want to include your phone number, social media handles, etc.
You may be surprised that I went with blue business cards when my current website logo is pink floral. Honestly, my logo will probably change in the near future so I didn’t feel it was necessary to go with the same color scheme. The business card color scheme is your first hint at the new look I’m going for. Generally, though, you’ll want to have brand consistency with all of your marketing materials branded with the same colors, fonts, etc.
About Basic Invite:
Basic Invite has been in business since 2006 and specializes in creating the perfect card for every event! The small team is based in Saint George, Utah! (I love shopping with smaller businesses based in the US.)
They offer a TON of different products like vertical business cards, real estate business cards, Christmas photo cards, wedding invitations, thank you cards and so much more.
Custom Samples – Basic Invite is one of the few websites that allows customers to order a printed sample of their actual invitation so they can see exactly how it will print as well as the paper quality before they ever have to place their final order.
Foil Options – The foil print is absolutely stunning and is available in gold, rose gold and silver. You can choose from raised foil or flat on all foil designs.
Envelopes – There are 40 different envelope colors to ensure your invite will stand out before it’s even opened. The envelopes are all peel and stick so no licking is required!
CHRISTMAS!!!
I know it’s August, but I’m already thinking Christmas… I couldn’t help but check out the Christmas card section and am already thinking of which ones I should send this year.
Given that my husband and I just moved from New York to my home state of Kentucky, I think these Southern Hospitality Christmas cards would be perfect! I know both of our families would get a kick out of these. Don’t be surprised if this lands in your mailbox from me later this year!
One really cool thing I’ve discovered about Basic Invite is that they have an address capturing service that allows customers to simply share a link on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or any other form of social media to request their friends and family’s addresses which will be stored in the customer’s account and can then be selected during the design process.
Basic Invite offers recipient address printing at no cost on all Christmas card orders. SUCH a time saver and so convenient! Maybe I’ll actually send cards this year since it’s this easy!
