If you follow me on social media (oh, hi! Instagram, here. Facebook, here) you likely already know that last night I partnered with the team at Draper James’ Lexington store to host a Shop & Sip event for a charity in my hometown.
I am overjoyed with the way the event turned out and wanted to capture it for you with a quick post here.
People often speak negatively about growing up in a small town, but I have to say…. you really just can’t beat the love and support of a community like the one I came from.
I was thrilled yesterday to see so many people come out and support the event with Draper James. I had friends, family and blog readers there… including some people I hadn’t seen in FOURTEEN years since I moved away from my hometown (Irvine, KY) at 18.
Most importantly, I was so happy that we were able to come together and raise money for an awesome cause. We were able to donate nearly $450 to the Marcum & Wallace Hospital Foundation which supports programs, events and technology upgrades for the local hospital in Irvine.
I had SO much fun shopping with so many people I love. I’m also so grateful that stores like Draper James are starting to include a wide range of sizes. For the first time in my life, everyone I know from a size 0-28 was able to shop together and have a great time in a retail store with EXCELLENT customer service. It was definitely an experience I won’t soon forget.
My lovely husband was kind enough to come with me to the event and take some GORGEOUS photos! Check out the slideshow below to see the event:
Also, if you live in Atlanta or if you’ll be in town this weekend for The Curvy Fashionista Style Expo, I’d love to see you! I’ll be hanging out with some of my favorite bloggers at the Draper James store in Atlanta before the expo begins on Saturday. I’ll be at the store from 10:00 Am-12:00 PM this Saturday, August 11th.

What’s your hometown like? Are you from a big city or a small town? Rural or urban?
