White denim can be a bit intimidating for anyone to wear, and as someone who is both plus sized and pear shaped, I avoided wearing them for years because I had no idea how to make them work for my body.
I’m pretty game to break any “plus size fashion rules” and generally just wear what makes me happy. Honestly, though, white denim is one area that I have avoided until recently. Honestly, I’ve been wearing dark pants/jeans pretty exclusively since high school.
As I’ve continued to grow in my own confidence and desire to incorporate new styles into my wardrobe, over the past couple of years I finally started incorporating white denim.

The Plus Life Wardrobe Essentials Guide
When I created The Plus Life Wardrobe Essentials Guide, which contains 37 items I think every plus size woman should own, I included white jeans because I’ve grown to love them so much. I had SO much fun coming up with a variety of creative ways to style them in the guide and in today’s post I’m sharing a white denim style session with you.

Plus Size White Denim Styling Tips
I recently reached out to one of my faves, my friend Maxey Greene, to see if she would be interested in partnering on a style video. If you don’t know… Maxey is one of the top plus size models and she’s also a blogger/influencer. She’s a great follow, so check out her IG here and her blog here.
I was thrilled when she agreed to collaborate on a video. When she mentioned that she was planning to do a white denim video this week and asked if I’d join in, I immediately said yes because I’m sure that many of you, like me, have been a bit iffy about wearing white denim.
If you’re nervous about wearing white denim like I was, here are a few tips to get you started.
- Try looser styles like wide leg cropped jeans or even a denim skirt instead of a skinny jean. A looser fit will feel a bit more forviging.
- Treat white jeans like a legging and wear some long-line tops, vests, or coats to cover your booty & hips. As you’re more comfortable with the look, you can try shorter tops.
- Wear bold colored tops and/or bold accessories to attract attention upward.
- Alternatively, go for a monochromatic look incorporating similar colors on top and bottom to create a seamless look.
Regardless of whether you love rocking white denim or if it’s all new to you, I hope you’ll enjoy seeing a few fun ways you can rock them… even in the Fall/Winter months!
(Also, please notice my adorable yet very cranky co-worker Jackson on the couch in my video below)
Outfit 1: A monochromatic look is my favorite way to wear white. I love including shades of white, beige, and ivory. A long-line top or sweater is a great way to ease into wearing white pants if you don’t want to draw attention to your butt or hips.
Outfit 2: This look adds a pop of color up top plus bold accessories to draw the eye up toward the face!
Outfit 3: There’s nothing more classic and sophisticated than a black and white look. I paired the white jeans with a fitted turtleneck and then added a long vest for length and coverage.
Outfit 4: Similar to outfit 3, I stuck with the black turtleneck and swapped on an edgy leather jacket (similar here) and sneakers (similar here). This look is a great casual date night option.
Outfit 5: Another day another sweater, right? I look for any excuse to wear my leopard flats and could pair them with a camel, beige, black, or other neutral sweater for a casual look.
Outfit 6: Another monochromatic look, I paired the jeans with a cropped ivory sweater (similar here, here, and here) that’s unfortunately sold out at Torrid and a long gold Y necklace that I wear nonstop. The camel coat (similar here) added such sophistication and made me feel like Meghan Markle or Kate Middleton (in my dreams)!
Bonus ideas: pair the jeans with your favorite blazer for a casual Friday look and rock it with your favorite coordinating sweatshirt for weekend errands. Here’s my favorite sweatshirt currently!
Drop a comment and let me know if you enjoyed the style video! I had so much fun creating it for you.

Thank you so much! I really love those color combos too! I couldn’t decide between the two looks with those colors so added them both! Haha.
