There are a few things that I need my holiday cards to be…
Easy. Quick turnaround. Inexpensive. Festive. Personal.
In general, I don’t like wasting money on paper products like birthday cards, gift wrap, etc. because for the most part they get thrown away or stored for a future occasional glance. I would rather save the $5 I’d spend on fancy gift wrap and get a better gift with a cute but inexpensive card and paper.
Photo holiday cards are a little different because many people (including me) do save them. I still don’t need them to be the fanciest pieces of paper ever, so they’re not something I like investing a lot of money into.

Budget-friendly options are out there if you do some digging. In this case, I did the research for you and found a great deal with a fast turnaround time. If you’re like me and always wait until the last minute to think of cards, this option is perfect for you.
If you act quickly, you can get them out before the holiday. If not, they do have some cute New Year card options too!
Here’s what you should do if you want to send holiday cards but haven’t yet:
- Find a good photo (or several good photos) of your family from throughout the year. I did have a photographer take pictures of us this year because I needed them for my blog anyway, but a nicely edited iPhone photo will be just fine if that’s all you have.
- Go to Walgreens.com and pick out your favorite card design.
- Upload your photo(s) and finalize your card.
- Order and pick up SAME DAY!
- Pick up some holiday stamps at USPS & get going on those addresses!
I can’t believe that Walgreens offers same day pickup even on their holiday cards. It’s pretty awesome and I’m not sure how they can keep up with it. There were boxes upon boxes of cards behind the counter at my local store. I was also pleasantly surprised by some of the beautiful options they had available that are equally as stunning as some of the much more expensive options.
Be sure to pay special attention to the discount codes on the Walgreen’s site, because I’ve seen them anywhere from 30-50% off this week! Also, it’s important to note that many of the cards currently say they start at $2.29/each when browsing but when you actually click on the cards for more info they start at only around $0.99/each even before discounts.
I designed a few different ones on the site and let Kevin have the final say.. .I don’t want to spoil the real card we’re sending, but here is one of my favorites that we didn’t use! (Photo Cred: Jimmy Riley Photography)
