The Coziest Gift Guide You’ve Ever Seen

Y’all, the holiday season is the best!  There are parties, family time, and pretty much all of my favorite things.  After December 25th, though, I’m usually done with winter and just want to cozy up at home with Kevin and my dog as much as possible.

I know I’m not alone in this sentiment, so I think the perfect holiday gift is one that brings comfort for the remaining winter months.  If you’re like me and enjoy a cozy night in, you might want to consider these gift ideas as “treat yourself” ideas instead.

If you’re shopping for your favorite homebody, he or she will thank you for any of these gifts under the tree this year!

Cheers to cozy comfort and relaxation!

Today’s post is the next in the Blogmas series, and it’s been extra fun to prepare for you!  I have a few special gift guides coming your way as part of the series, but I thought it would be fun to start with a roundup of the exact items I PERSONALLY would love to receive this year for Christmas.  I don’t currently own any of the items on this list but they’re all things I’ve been considering purchasing or hinting about to my family.

Real talk, this is a LONG list.  I have absolutely zero expectation of receiving all or even most of these items.  I’ll narrow this down to a few of the things I want the  most and share it with the people who’ll be shopping for me.  Hi, Mom! Hi, Kevin!

Tips for hosting Thanksgiving at your home: Focus on what really matters! The holiday is all about spending time with loved ones and celebrating the blessings in your life. Don't allow the cooking, cleaning or decorating to distract you from the true purpose.

Everything You Need To Host Your First Thanksgiving

You know what is completely overwhelming?  Hosting a major holiday for the first time.  Kevin and I are traveling to New York to spend Thanksgiving with his family this year, but I’m planning on hosting a Thanksgiving meal for some of my family in Kentucky on another day.

We are so excited to finally have space for entertaining, but given that we haven’t been able to in the past… we are definitely lacking in some of the basics we need for hosting.

If you’re like us and plan to host a holiday meal for the first time this year, check out my tips and tricks below. I’ve done all the overanalyzing so that you don’t have to!  Haha.

Do you feel like you always run out of ALL your favorite products at the same time? It always seems to happen that way for me.  Recently, I ran out of mascara, concealer, AND my favorite contour all within the same week.

Flat Lay With Makeup ProductsAs someone who has always chased after the next big thing with makeup, I’ve noticed that lately I have settled in to buying my go-to makeup products over and over.  I still LOVE trying new things. Just ask Kevin…  He was waiting in the car while I went into Ulta last week, and I’m not even sure how long I left him waiting.  Oops!

This could be an unpopular opinion, but I’ll say it anyway. I hate getting manicures at the nail salon.

Don’t get me wrong, I love having nicely manicured nails but I hate the process of actually getting the manicure for many reasons.

  1. It takes forever, and I hate wasting my time at the salon.
  2. It’s not relaxing or fun for me.
  3. I am usually uncomfortable in the nail salon chairs.
  4. It’s expensive and I’d rather spend my money on things I enjoy.
  5. Even gel or SNS manicures just don’t last very long on me.

How You Can Get the Best Sleep Ever: A Big Fig Mattress Review

Disclosure:  I received a free bed from Big Fig in order to review it for you on the blog.  Links in this post are affiliate links, and you can read my disclosures here.  As always, integrity is my number one priority and all opinions are my own.

I’m not really sure why, but I’ve never been a great sleeper. I struggle to fall asleep. I toss and turn. I wake up achy. There are many days that I wake up tired even after 8+ hours in bed.  My dad still tells stories about how I used to kick, roll and flail when I slept as a child.

As I got older I’d occasionally turn to Nyquil, melatonin, or other sleep aids when things got really bad.  While they would help improve my sleep on the nights I used them, nothing really solved my problems long term.

I accepted fatigue and bad sleep as my reality, but for the past two months I’ve gotten the best sleep of my life.  I’m excited to share my story with you because I believe that the change I made in upgrading to a Big Fig Mattress changed my life forever.

You can check out all the specifics about the mattress here and use my code PLUSLIFEBLOG to save $$$!

A Guide to The Best Weekend Ever In Waco Texas At Magnolia Market

True story… I want to be  Joanna Gaines when I grow up.

I’m OBSESSED with Chip & Joanna and all things Fixer Upper, and I’d guess many of you are too.  What’s not to love about a wholesome couple with adorable kiddos and a knack for demo day and interior design?

Recently, my husband Kevin mentioned that he had to go to Dallas, Texas for a business trip and asked if I’d like to tag along with him.  I’m never one to pass up an adventure, but I honestly had no idea what there is to do in Dallas.

A Special Night – A Fundraiser With Draper James

If you follow me on social media (oh, hi!  Instagram, here.  Facebook, here) you likely already know that last night I partnered with the team at Draper James’ Lexington store to host a Shop & Sip event for a charity in my hometown.

I am overjoyed with the way the event turned out and wanted to capture it for you with a quick post here.

People often speak negatively about growing up in a small town, but I have to say…. you really just can’t beat the love and support of a community like the one I came from.

I’ve got an Amazon problem, y’all!  I LOVE it.  I have to say, I’ve gotten way better about my little habit, but July was definitely a little Amazon shopping heavy.

When we were in our apartment in NY, a neighbor once questioned me about what in the world we were buying to have packages arrive every day.  Oops!  I’m not proud of it, but it is what it is I guess.  There was no Target nearby so what was a girl to do?
